Print a ruler that keeps its size
Choose a length of 3, 6, 8 or 10 inches, or 10, 15, 20 or 25 centimeters. Every ruler has inches along its upper edge and centimeters along its lower edge. Inch marks can divide each inch into eighths or sixteenths; the small metric marks are 1 mm apart. One inch is exactly 25.4 mm.
Longer rulers need landscape paper. If a selection does not fit, the generator asks you to change the orientation or length. It never silently shrinks the ruler or joins separate pieces. A 12-inch ruler is longer than either sheet’s usable width and is not included.
Check before measuring
- Download the PDF and load the matching Letter or A4 paper.
- Print at 100% / Actual size. Turn off Fit to page, Shrink and similar options.
- Check the 50 mm line against a trusted ruler. Digital geometry cannot compensate for a printer that scales the page.
- Cut around the dashed guide. Measure from the line marked 0, not the paper edge.
The on-screen preview is reduced and is not an actual-size screen ruler. For small quilting cuts, the printed ruler is a measurement reference; use appropriate cutting equipment rather than cutting against a paper edge. Downloading is open without an account.
